Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 August 2026 · Applies to Slice Your Money on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and to this website.
The short version. Slice Your Money has no accounts and no servers that hold your financial data. Everything you record stays on your device and, if you switch sync on, in your own private iCloud. We do not store your financial records on Slice Your Money servers and we cannot see into your iCloud. We don't track you, we don't run ads, and we don't include any third-party analytics. There is no data for us to sell, and no login to your bank for anyone to abuse.

Who we are
Slice Your Money is an independent app published by Auto Culture Society, based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, we are the data controller for the limited information described below. In practice, the design goal of this app is that we hold as close to nothing as it is possible to hold.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter into Slice Your Money (your planning income, the entries you log, your categories, goals, recurring payments, household plans and settings) is written to storage on your own device.
If you enable iCloud sync, that same information is also written to your private CloudKit database. This is storage inside your personal iCloud account, provided by Apple. We do not store your financial records on Slice Your Money servers; your records exist only in your own device storage and your own iCloud space. It is not our server, we hold no credentials for it, and we cannot browse, query or export it. How Apple secures and accesses iCloud data is governed by Apple, and is described in Apple's Privacy Policy and their iCloud data security documentation.
We do not operate any backend service that receives your financial information. There is no upload step, no account creation, no email address required, and no password to forget.
What we never collect
- No bank credentials. The app never asks for online banking details and has no Open Banking or screen-scraping connection of any kind.
- No analytics or telemetry. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no attribution framework and no third-party crash reporter.
- No advertising. We do not show ads and we do not participate in any ad network.
- No tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not need to show you Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to ask about.
- No sale of data. We have never sold personal data and have no mechanism by which we could.
Where Apple is involved
Some things necessarily involve Apple as a separate company with its own privacy policy:
- Purchases. Slice Plus subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app only whether an entitlement is active. We never see your card details, billing address or Apple Account.
- iCloud sync. Handled by Apple's CloudKit, in your private database, as described above.
- App Store data. Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymised sales and download statistics. These cannot identify individual users.
Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sharing a plan with another person
Pizza Party lets you share a monthly plan with a partner or housemate. This uses Apple's CloudKit sharing, and invitations are sent through Apple's own share sheet to a specific person you choose. There are no public links.
Only the shared plan is visible to the other participant, the shared table, its categories and amounts. Your personal money log is never shared. You can stop sharing at any time from within the app, and either person can leave a shared plan and keep their own records.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Calendar: only if you choose to add a Pizza Night reminder to your calendar. The app requests write access to add that event; it does not read your existing calendar unless you ask it to manage a night it previously created.
- Face ID / Touch ID: only if you switch App Lock on. Biometric matching happens entirely on your device; the app receives a yes or no and never sees biometric data.
- Notifications: only if you opt into reminders. These are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push server and cannot send you anything.
- Files: only when you import a bank statement or export a backup, using the system file picker. The app reads or writes exactly the file you select and nothing else.
Every one of these is optional. Declining any of them leaves the core app fully usable.
This website
This site is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no social media trackers, comment widgets or advertising pixels. That is why you have not been shown a cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
The interactive calculator, the Slice Bank illustration and the payday countdown all run entirely in your browser. Numbers you type are never transmitted anywhere; they are not sent to us, and they are not stored beyond your currency preference, which is kept in your browser's local storage so the page remembers it next time. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's font servers and Google may log the IP address of that request as part of serving the file. If you would rather avoid that, a content blocker will prevent it and the site will fall back to your system fonts and work perfectly well.
Cloudflare, as our host, processes standard server request logs (including IP addresses) for security and to serve the site. This is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy and we do not build profiles from it.
Your rights and how to exercise them
Under the UK and EU GDPR you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Because of how Slice is built, you can exercise most of these instantly and without asking us:
- Access and portability. Settings, then export your data. You get a complete, readable backup file. This is free, in the free version, with no limits.
- Erasure. Settings, then delete all data. This clears the app's records on the device and, where sync is on, removes them from your private iCloud. Deleting the app removes its local storage too.
- Correction. Every entry, plan and goal is editable in the app at any time.
If you believe we hold personal data about you and you would like to make a formal request, email us at the address below and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
Children
Slice Your Money is rated 4+ and contains nothing unsuitable for children, but it is a personal finance tool intended for adults managing their own money. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, of any age, including children, because we do not collect personal data at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes. We will never make a change that retroactively reduces the protection of information you have already recorded.
